During the visit, Secretary-General Engadu held a high-level meeting with H.E Hon. Hassan Ali Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, at his office in Nairobi.

The discussions focused on advancing Kenya’s strategic leadership in the continent’s critical minerals sector. Key outcomes of the meeting included:

  1. Agreement on Kenya’s pivotal role in building an Africa Consensus on Critical Minerals through hosting the Africa Minerals Summit in December 2025.
  2. Exploration of pathways to fast-track Kenya’s membership in AMSG.

“Kenya’s leadership in hosting the Africa Minerals Summit is a bold step toward building a united African voice on critical minerals, attracting transformative investment, and securing our mineral sovereignty,” said AMSG Secretary-General Engadu.

“The time is now for Kenya and Africa to move decisively from talk to action. Together, let’s unlock the full value of our critical minerals wealth for our people and our shared future.”

The Secretary-General commended Kenya’s foresight and reaffirmed AMSG’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s leadership in shaping Africa’s minerals policy, investment climate, and industrial growth.
