DESCRIPTION:On 17 July 2024\, the Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG)\, His Excellency Moses Micheal Engadu\, met with His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu\, GCFR\, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria\, at the State House in Abuja\, Nigeria. The meeting marked a significant milestone in strengthening Africa’s collective approach to harnessing its vast mineral resources and enhancing the continent’s negotiating power in the global economy. \nDuring the engagement\, Secretary-General Engadu briefed President Tinubu on the Africa Minerals Strategy Group\, including its mandate\, strategic objectives and ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting cooperation among African countries on critical minerals development\, value addition\, industrialization and responsible resource governance. He also sought Nigeria’s continued support for the Organization and for the ratification and implementation of the AMSG Charter. \nPresident Tinubu warmly welcomed the AMSG delegation and reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to the Organization. DESCRIPTION:On 24 April 2024\, the Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG)\, His Excellency Moses Micheal Engadu\, held a productive meeting with His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera\, President of the Republic of Malawi\, at the State House in Lilongwe\, Malawi. \nDuring the engagement\, Secretary-General Engadu briefed President Chakwera on the Africa Minerals Strategy Group\, its mandate\, strategic objectives and key initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among African countries in the development of the continent’s mineral resources. He emphasized the importance of collective action to harness Africa’s vast mineral wealth for the socio-economic transformation and prosperity of its people. \nThe Secretary-General highlighted AMSG’s commitment to advancing mineral value addition\, cross-border trade\, investment promotion\, geological intelligence\, and responsible resource development while ensuring that African countries derive greater benefits from their natural resources. \nAs part of the discussions\, H.E. Engadu sought the support of the Government of Malawi for the ongoing activities of the Organization and for the ratification of the AMSG Charter\, a critical step in strengthening the institutional foundation of the Group. \nPresident Chakwera warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed Malawi’s commitment to supporting the objectives of AMSG.
