The Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) has learned with profound sorrow of the passing of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya – a towering statesman, freedom fighter, and one of the most enduring voices of African democracy.

On behalf of all Member States of AMSG, I extend our deepest condolences to H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, the Government of Kenya, the Odinga Family, and the People of Kenya.

Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga was not merely a political leader – he was a conscience of a generation, a man whose courage echoed Mandela, whose resilience embodied the spirit of Africa, and whose unyielding pursuit of justice inspired movements across the continent.

He was a leader who suffered for democracy and never surrendered his convictions. A visionary who believed that Africa’s freedom must not end at independence – it must evolve into economic dignity, social equity, and accountable governance.

Today, we do not mourn only a Kenyan hero. We mourn an African standard-bearer.

His voice stirred nations.
His sacrifice strengthened institutions.
His legacy will outlive his lifetime.

The Africa Minerals Strategy Group stands firmly with the Republic of Kenya during this moment of national mourning. May the Government and People of Kenya find comfort in knowing that all of Africa stands beside you – not only in sympathy, but in solidarity.
