The Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) convened its First General Assembly on the sidelines of the 5th Future Minerals Forum, marking a historic transition from its interim phase to a fully mandated intergovernmental organisation.
Member States elected the Organisation’s first substantive leadership:

Federal Republic of Nigeria as Chairperson (H.E. Dr. Oladele Henry Alake).

Democratic Republic of Congo as Vice Chairperson (H.E. Louis Watum Kabamba).

H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu of Uganda as First Substantive Secretary-General.
The Assembly approved key governance measures, confirmed Mauritania to nominate the Deputy Secretary-General, mandated Southern Africa to nominate the Finance Secretary, adopted the AMSG committee framework, and reviewed progress on Charter ratification.
