The Africa Responsible Mineral Sourcing Initiative is AMSG’s continental platform for advancing ethical, transparent and sustainable mineral trade across Member States.
Developed in partnership with the Oheneba Poku Foundation, ARMSI was launched on 18 November 2024 at the Dubai Precious Metals Conference to establish a framework for responsible sourcing and ethical mining practices across Africa.
Beginning with AMSG Member States, ARMSI promotes due diligence, traceability, compliance, environmental responsibility and human rights protection across the entire mineral supply chain.
Through integration with the MADINI Blockchain Platform and the Africa Mineral Token ecosystem, ARMSI strengthens trust, accountability and verification from mine to market.
As global demand for critical minerals accelerates, responsible sourcing is no longer optional — it is a strategic requirement for market access, investment attraction and long-term competitiveness. Through ARMSI, Africa is building a continent-wide framework that enables governments, mining companies, refiners, traders, financial institutions and downstream manufacturers to demonstrate compliance, transparency and responsible stewardship of mineral resources.
By combining policy leadership, due diligence standards, digital traceability through the MADINI Blockchain Platform and trusted stakeholder partnerships, ARMSI is laying the foundation for a new generation of African mineral value chains that are ethical, verifiable and globally recognized. The Initiative seeks not only to eliminate illicit trade and harmful practices, but also to ensure that Africa captures greater value from its resources while protecting communities, workers and the environment.
