H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu from the Republic of Uganda was formally sworn in and invested as the First Substantive Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group by H.E Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President of Republic of Nigeria and Chairperson of the AMSG General Assembly during the Presidential Ceremony held at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja, marking a defining constitutional milestone in the institutional development of AMSG. The Swearing-in and Investiture Ceremony held on 23 June 2026 was witnessed and attested by H.E Dr. Oladele Henry Alake Chairperson of the AMSG Ministerial Steering Committee together with the Ministers of Mining of South Sudan, Liberia and Kenya.
The swearing-in confirms the Secretary-General’s mandate to serve Member Nations, uphold the AMSG Charter and advance cooperation, value addition, critical minerals security and responsible stewardship of Africa’s mineral resources.
01. Swearing-In of the First Substantive Secretary-General
H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu from the Republic of Uganda took the Oath of Office as the First Substantive Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group during the constitutional investiture ceremony held in Abuja.
The Oath affirmed his commitment to faithfully, impartially and conscientiously discharge the duties entrusted to him as Secretary-General, uphold the Charter and serve the Member Nations of AMSG with honour and dedication.
02. Commission of Appointment
The Commission of Appointment confirmed the election of H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu by the First General Assembly as the First Substantive Secretary-General of AMSG.
The Commission authorizes the Secretary-General to exercise the powers, duties, responsibilities and authorities vested in the Office under the Charter and decisions of the General Assembly.
