The Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco (MTEDD) on 24 November 2025 in Marrakech.
Signed by H.E. Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition & Sustainable Development, and H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu, AMSG Secretary-General, the MoU marks a major step toward Africa’s own ESG Framework – a standard designed by Africans, for Africa’s mineral future.
A Continental Vision Rooted in African Realities
This partnership builds on key continental milestones, including the OTC Corridor, the Call of Nairobi, the Call of Nouakchott, and the Marrakech Declaration, all reinforcing Africa’s determination to shape responsible mineral governance that reflects its people, its environment, and its economic aspirations.
Key Areas of Cooperation
The MoU commits AMSG and MTEDD to work together on:

Promoting the African ESG Framework across the continent

Joint development of ESG toolkits and guidance materials

Capacity-building through training programs and technical workshops

Publication of an annual African ESG Report

Co-organizing flagship events including African ESG Week

Engaging partners to mobilize technical and financial support

This collaboration strengthens Africa’s collective ability to set its own standards, speak with one voice, and champion responsible, inclusive, and sustainable mineral development.
AMSG remains fully committed to supporting Member States in the continental adoption and implementation of the African ESG Framework.
