In a historic milestone for African mineral diplomacy and governance, the Federal Republic of Nigeria has officially signed and ratified the AMSG Charter, formalizing its role as founding member and Chair of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group.

The charter, adopted in January 2024, lays the legal and institutional foundation for:
- Mineral Value Addition, local processing and beneficiation of African minerals.
- Shared exploration frameworks.
- Intergovernmental cooperation on critical minerals.
- Pan-African investment and data standards.
Signed by the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development H.E. Dr. Dele Alake, the ratification positions Nigeria to:
- Host key AMSG activities and summits
- Champion harmonization of standards
- Spearhead value addition investments and innovation hubs
“This is leadership by example. Nigeria has stepped forward to institutionalize Africa’s voice in global mineral governance,” H.E Engadu emphasized
The signing and ratification that took place during the Fourth edition of the African Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit (AFNIS) at State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, was witnessed by H.E Hassan Ali Joho, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Albader, Senior Advisor to the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, Permanent Secretary, Nigeria Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, H.E Madam Agatha Engadu, Spouse to the AMSG Secretary-General, Mr. Patrick Mulindwa Lubega, AMSG Chief of Staff, and Senior Government Officials from Nigeria and Kenya.
