In a powerful address at the AFNIS Ministerial Roundtable, AMSG Secretary-General H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu called for a new era of resource strategy and mineral sovereignty:
Africa is not poor. Africa is rich — in minerals, in resilience, in youth.
But we have exported wealth, and imported poverty. The tragedy is not what was stolen. It’s what we failed to build.
– H.E Moses Micheal Engadu, AMSG Secretary-General
Framing the discussion around four imperatives:
- Value Addition – Build industry, not just extract.
- Exploration & Data Sovereignty – Map our resources, own our wealth.
- African Capital Mobilization – Raise capital from within.
- Critical Minerals Security – Protect African interests in global supply chains.
H.E Engadu also announced the launch of the Africans for Africa Mining Fund on July 17, 2025 at AFNIS:
Imagine 1 million Africans contributing $1,000 each, we raise $1 Billion.
This is not philanthropy. This is equity, ownership, and transformation.
– H.E Moses Micheal Engadu, AMSG Secretary-General
The roundtable was not just a meeting of minds. It was a moment of truth.
Strategic Outcomes:
- Groundwork for a continental “Hand-Carry Framework” to combat smuggling
- Strong alignment around value chains, traceability, and industrial partnerships
- Reinforcement of pan-African strategy at global forums (New York, Cape Town, Dubai)
Quote of the Day:
This roundtable must not be a policy ritual. It must be a strategic reckoning.
