In a landmark moment for The Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) is proud to announce that the Republic of South Sudan has formally ratified the AMSG Charter, marking the historic completion of the Charter’s ratification process and the formal establishment of AMSG as Africa’s premier intergovernmental platform for critical minerals policy, investment alignment, and global engagement.
The Instrument of Ratification, signed by H.E. Amb. Monday Semaya K. Kumba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was officially received by Hon. Martin Gama Abucha, Minister of Mining, who will deposit the instrument with H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu, Secretary-General of AMSG, at a formal ceremony to be organized.
Representing the AMSG Secretary-General at the event was Dr. George Kariithi, Special Advisor to the Secretary-General for Eastern Africa, who conveyed the Secretary-General’s congratulations and appreciation to the Government of South Sudan for this landmark step.
South Sudan’s ratification marks the final step required for the AMSG Charter to enter full legal force, officially giving life to Africa’s united framework for the responsible, transparent, and value-driven development of its mineral resources.
With this act, Africa speaks with one voice – stronger, more united, and ready to define its mineral destiny on the global stage.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, private sector representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps — reflecting South Sudan’s growing commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable mineral development.
