Africa’s Mineral Resources in the Face of the Global Energy Transition: African Vision and Leadership

The Secretary-General delivered a keynote address in Nouakchott, Mauritania, on the occasion of the signing and ratification of the AMSG Establishment Charter by the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
The keynote, titled: “Africa’s Mineral Resources in the Face of the Global Energy Transition: African Vision and Leadership,” highlighted the strategic importance of Africa’s critical minerals, the need for exploration, value addition, industrialization and stronger continental cooperation.
The engagement marked Mauritania’s formal entry into AMSG and reinforced the Organization’s growing continental footprint and commitment to advancing Africa’s leadership in the global energy transition.
