Hosted on the sidelines of the Kenya Mining Investment Conference and Exhibition 2026, the roundtable provided a focused platform for African Ministers, CEOs and strategic partners to exchange ideas on unlocking Africa’s mineral wealth through regional cooperation, value addition, supply chain security and strategic investment.

01. Strategic Presentation: Redefining Critical Minerals for Africa

The roundtable commenced with a strategic presentation by H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu, Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group, titled “Redefining Critical Minerals for Africa.”

The presentation challenged conventional approaches to critical minerals policy and argued that Africa must define critical minerals not only through the lens of global energy transition requirements, but also through the continent’s own development priorities, including industrialisation, infrastructure, food security, technology development and economic sovereignty.

The presentation further highlighted Africa’s mineral paradox: possessing some of the world’s largest mineral reserves while capturing only a fraction of global mineral value. It called for accelerated beneficiation, regional processing hubs, strategic partnerships, investment mobilisation and stronger continental coordination through AMSG.

02. Ministerial Participation

The roundtable brought together senior ministerial leadership from across Africa, reflecting the growing continental commitment to beneficiation, value addition and coordinated mineral development.
