Official Working Visit to Malawi for Charter Ratification

The Secretary-General undertook an official working visit to the Republic of Malawi in support of the ratification of the AMSG Establishment Charter. H.E Moses Micheal Engadu, accompanied by a delegation of AMSG Ministers of Mining paid a courtesy call to H.E Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi at State House Lilongwe on 24 April 2024.
The visit culminated in Malawi becoming the first country to ratify the Charter, demonstrating its commitment to continental cooperation on critical minerals development and Africa’s mineral future.
The ratification represented an important milestone in the entry into force process of the AMSG Charter and strengthened the Organization’s institutional foundation.
