The Republic of Malawi signs the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) Establishment Resolution and becomes the first founding Member Nation to do so. Her Excellency Monica Changa’anamuno, Minister of Mining signed on behalf of the Republic of Malawi.
The Signing Ceremony held on Monday, 5th February 2024 at the Ministerial Lounge of the 30th Edition of Mining Indaba was presided by H.E Moses Micheal Engadu, AMSG Secretary General and witnessed by H.E Abdelkerim Mahamat Abdelkerim, Minister of Mines and Geology of the Republic of Chad, H.E Umaru Napoleon Koroma, Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mr. Patrick Mulindwa Lubega, AMSG Chief of Staff, Mr. Joseph Mkandawire, Permanent Secretary and Staff of Ministry of Mining of Malawi as well as several Representatives of AMSG founding member nations from Nigeria, Uganda, South Sudan and Somalia.
Her Excellency Changa’anamuno affirmed the commitment and unwavering support of the Republic of Malawi towards the goals and activities of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group. She emphasized that Africa must work together to effectively benefit and utilize its vast resources. The Africa Minerals Strategy Group is a timely vehicle to drive Africa’s common agenda, secure strategic partnerships and investment projects and facilitate the cooperation on critical minerals among member African countries and interested nations.

The Republic of Malawi co-led the establishment of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) on 9th January 2024 on the sidelines of the Ministerial Roundtable of the third Future Minerals Forum 2024 held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Her Excellency Monica Changa’anamuno co-led the delegations to meetings with key officials of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to promote the Africa Minerals Strategy Group and to secure strategic partnerships.
