H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu
H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu is the First Substantive Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group, a continental intergovernmental organization established to advance cooperation on critical minerals development across Africa.
Elected by the First General Assembly of AMSG on 15 January 2026, he leads the Secretariat and serves as the principal representative of the Organization before Member States, partner governments, international institutions, investors and the private sector.
Under his leadership, AMSG has emerged as a continental platform for minerals diplomacy, value addition, responsible sourcing, strategic partnerships and Africa’s collective positioning in the global minerals economy.

Chief Executive Officer and Principal Representative
The Secretary-General is the executive head of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, institutional coordination and external representation of the Organization.
Executive Leadership
Leads the Secretariat and provides overall direction for the implementation of AMSG’s mandate, programmes and institutional priorities.
Institutional Coordination
Supports the work of the General Assembly, Ministerial Steering Committee, Standing Committees and other organs of the Organization.
Diplomatic Representation
Represents AMSG in engagements with Member States, partner governments, international organizations, investors and strategic institutions.
Implementation of Decisions
Ensures that decisions, resolutions and strategic directives of AMSG’s governing organs are coordinated and advanced through the Secretariat.
Partnerships & Investment
Mobilizes partnerships, investment, technical cooperation and institutional support to advance Africa’s critical minerals development agenda.
Institution Building
Strengthens AMSG’s governance systems, operational capacity, strategic platforms and continental coordination mechanisms.
Appointment and Election of the Secretary-General
The Secretary-General is appointed or elected in accordance with the decisions of AMSG Member States acting through the competent organs of the Organization.
Institutional Mandate
The Office of the Secretary-General was established to provide executive leadership, institutional continuity and coordination for the work of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group.
As the Organization developed from its founding phase into formal institutional governance, the leadership of the Secretariat transitioned from founding appointment to substantive election by the General Assembly.
Founding Appointment
H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu was appointed Founding Secretary-General at the establishment of AMSG in Riyadh.
Founding Phase
The Founding Secretary-General led institution-building, Member State engagement and operational development of the Secretariat.
First General Assembly
The General Assembly considered the leadership and institutional framework of the Organization.

H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu served as the Founding Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group from its establishment on 9 January 2024 until the First General Assembly held on 15 January 2026.
Following the First General Assembly, he was elected as the First Substantive Secretary-General of the Organization, marking the transition of the Office from founding leadership to formal institutional mandate.
