EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Hon. Dr. Oladele Henry Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was formally invested by H.E Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as First Chairperson of the Ministerial Steering Committee of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group, assuming ministerial leadership on behalf of Nigeria as Chairperson Member State. The Investiture Ceremony held on 23 June 2026 at State House Abuja was witnessed and attested by H.E Moses Micheal Engadu, Secretary-General of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group together with the visiting Ministers of South Sudan, Kenya and Liberia. H.E Dr. Alake publicly received his instruments of office during the 5th African Natural Resources & Investment Summit 2026 on 25 June 2026 at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, Nigeria.

The investiture confirms Dr. Alake’s role in providing strategic ministerial leadership to guide the implementation of AMSG decisions and advance Africa’s mineral development agenda.

01. Assumption of Ministerial Leadership

H.E. Dr. Oladele Henry Alake formally assumed the responsibilities and functions of Chairperson of the AMSG Ministerial Steering Committee during the Investiture Ceremony held at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

His assumption of office followed Nigeria’s election as First Chairperson of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group and reflects the constitutional role of the Minister responsible for Minerals and Mining of the elected Chairperson Member State.

02. Mandate of the Ministerial Steering Committee

The Ministerial Steering Committee is responsible for guiding ministerial cooperation, policy coordination and strategic implementation among Member States in support of the objectives of the AMSG Charter.

Under H.E Dr. Alake’s leadership, the Committee is expected to support the implementation of decisions of the General Assembly and advance cooperation on responsible mineral development, beneficiation, value addition, commercialization and critical minerals security.

H.E. Dr. Alake’s investiture therefore marks the beginning of a new phase of ministerial coordination within AMSG as the Organization advances from founding vision to operational implementation.

The Investiture Ceremony took place on 23 June 2026 at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja, following Nigeria’s ratification of the AMSG Charter. During the ceremony, H.E Dr. Oladele Henry Alake executed the Declaration of Assumption of Office and was invested as Chairperson of the AMSG Ministerial Steering Committee.
