Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, signed Nigeria’s Instrument of Ratification of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group Charter at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja, completing Nigeria’s accession to the Charter and affirming its leadership within AMSG as Chairperson of the General Assembly.
The signing of Nigeria’s Instrument of Ratification marks a defining constitutional milestone for the Africa Minerals Strategy Group and provides a powerful presidential example for other African Member Nations advancing their ratification processes.
01. Presidential Act of Ratification
His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, signed Nigeria’s Instrument of Ratification of the Charter of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group during a Presidential Courtesy Meeting, Ratification Ceremony and Investiture Ceremony held at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Presidential signature completed a formal constitutional process through which Nigeria affirmed its commitment to the objectives, principles and aspirations of AMSG and to the advancement of responsible mineral development, value addition, beneficiation, critical minerals security and strategic cooperation across Africa.
02. Completion of Nigeria’s Accession to the AMSG Charter
The signing of the Instrument of Ratification completed Nigeria’s accession to the AMSG Charter and paved the way for the formal deposit of the instrument with the Secretary-General of the Organization.
Following the deposit, the Secretary-General confirmed that the Federal Republic of Nigeria had completed the requirements for ratification and had attained the status of a Full Member Nation of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group.
